Week of April 15th

This is Spring?
Finally, a break in the rain allowed us to get outside to experience Spring - or what is supposed to be Spring!  What we found outside did not match many of the things we had included on our "Signs of Spring" list.  We took a "photograph walk" and got to take our own pictures of evidence of Spring.  Back in the classroom, we tried to figure out why we didn't see flowers, worms, or even very many birds.  Theories included too much rain, not enough "warmth", and very little sun.  We set up a planting experiment to confirm our theory that plants need water, sun, and warmth to grow.  We planted one seed giving it all those things, and we planted another seed but either kept it in the dark, in the freezer, or gave it no water.  We will see which plants grow first if at all!  We also planted grass seed to illustrate our new song and big book, The Green Grass Grows.

April Snow
When we looked outside on Friday, we were amazed to see snow in April!  Silly as it seemed, we headed outside to ride bikes and play in the April snow.  It is hard to see the snow in the picture, but we had fun trying to catch snowflakes!  Only here in Wisconsin!
Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts today and cross fingers for a little sunshine and warmth for some outside activities for our Earth Day celebration on Monday!
